Accessing your GCTC Mailbox

You can access your student mailbox in many ways via computer or phone and it is your personal preference which to choose.

The easiest way is via any browser

Your email can be used via our webmail service using any browser – go to https://www.outitgoes.com to sign in.

Use your email address and password provided.

If you require a mailbox to be set up then contact us and we will send out your details.

On your favourite device

Your mailbox can be accessed via any device e.g. SmartPhone (Android or iOS), Tablet, PC or Laptop.

Your mailbox can be loaded onto your device or through your mail client (this could be Outlook or the mail program on your device)  and the two most common methods to do this is either with a POP3 connection or an IMAP connection.

We recommend that you use IMAP.

An IMAP Connection

By using an IMAP connection, you can have multiple ways of simultaneously connecting to the same mailbox. For example, you can have email on your phone, your tablet, and your computer, and when you delete a message from your phone, it will also be deleted on your other devices.

The way your device or mail client is designed may be different than how other programs or devices work, with different names for the same steps.

Your device or program should have detailed information on how to add and set up mailboxes onto the system, but there are general pieces of information you need to complete the process.

What do I need to setup my IMAP Mailbox

When adding your Mail Account to your device or software program you will need the following information.

When selecting the account type, select IMAP.

Your User Name is your full email address.

Your Password is your mailbox password.

Your Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server are both mail152.extendcp.co.uk

So, for example, if your name email is bob@thegctc.com

User Name: bob@thegctc.com
Password: (Your Password)
Incoming Mail Server: mail152.extendcp.co.uk
Outgoing Mail Server: mail152.extendcp.co.uk

In the Advanced Features for Outgoing Mail Server, there may be some additional settings that need changing. This depends on your device.

Please make certain that:-

You are using the default ports (25, 465, 587)
You are not using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)
You are using Password for Authentication

I am having difficulty setting up my mailbox

If you are accessing your email via outitgoes.com ensure that you enter your password directly and not via copy / paste.

Depending on your device, you can use the help menu or their support line.  You can contact us and we will do all we can to get you set up.

Most common email programmes work the same way and the information above (the IMAP settings) will work even if the instructions are slightly different. You can also use POP3 if you email service does not use IMAP.

If you are still having difficulty in setting up your email we suggest that you contact your provider and send them the IMAP settings above.

You can also send us an email and we will help (many of our students will use similar devices.)
