Private Therapy

Q: How much are private CBT therapy sessions?

At the Glasgow Cognitive Therapy Centre, we offer a tiered therapy model to make Cognitive Behavioural Therapy accessible while maintaining high professional standards.

  • £25 per session – Trainee CBT Therapist (currently completing our Diploma in CBT)

  • £70 per session – Accredited or experienced CBT Therapist

All sessions last 50 minutes.

Q: Do I need a GP referral?

No. You can self-refer directly.

Simply complete our online self-referral form or call 0141 332 0229 to arrange an appointment.

Q: Do you offer online CBT therapy?

Yes.

We are based in Glasgow city centre and offer face-to-face appointments. We also provide secure online CBT sessions, making therapy accessible across Scotland.

Whether online or in person, you will receive the same structured, evidence-based standard of care.

Q: What difficulties can CBT help with?

CBT is particularly effective for:

  • Anxiety

  • Low mood and depression

  • Stress

  • Panic attacks

  • Social anxiety

  • Health anxiety

  • Low self-esteem

CBT is practical, goal-focused and helps you develop skills you can use beyond therapy.

Q: How soon can I get an appointment?

Availability depends on the therapist level and current demand.

We aim to arrange your first session as promptly as possible.

Q: How many sessions will I need?

CBT is generally a short- to medium-term therapy.

Most clients attend between 5 and 20 sessions, depending on:

  • Your goals

  • The nature of the difficulty

  • How long it has been present

Progress is reviewed regularly to ensure therapy remains focused and effective.

Q: What is the difference between a trainee and accredited therapist?

Trainee therapists:

  • Have completed core counselling training

  • Have demonstrated CBT competency

  • Receive structured clinical supervision

  • Are completing our Diploma in CBT

Accredited therapists are fully qualified CBT practitioners with additional clinical experience.

Both work within professional and ethical standards — the difference is primarily experience level and fee.
